Description

High-alumina, porous stainless steel sheet for powder metallurgy injection molding

This high-alumina, porous stainless steel sheet (corundum-mullite sintered plate) for powder metallurgy injection molding (MIM) is a porous sintered plate product made from high-purity alumina and mullite as the main raw materials and sintered at high temperatures. It is specifically designed for supporting MIM stainless steel parts in continuous furnaces or vacuum furnaces during high-temperature sintering. The product has an effective porosity, ensuring very low energy storage and facilitating smooth debinding and degreasing of parts during sintering. Simultaneously, its high purity and chemical inertness ensure that the MIM stainless steel parts will not undergo adverse chemical reactions such as carburization, decarburization, and dechromiuming during sintering, guaranteeing the final performance of the product.

Product Features

  1. Effective Porosity, Smooth Adhesive Removal

With a porosity greater than 26%, it provides a smooth discharge channel for the gas generated during the debinding stage, which can effectively reduce sintering defects such as internal porosity and blistering in the parts.

  1. Low Heat Storage, Rapid Heating and Cooling

The porous structure of the pad results in a low heat storage capacity, which facilitates rapid heating and cooling. The consistent thermal expansion behavior of the upper and lower surfaces of the part during heating and cooling effectively prevents deformation caused by temperature differences and improves product dimensional accuracy.

  1. Chemically Inert, No Part Contamination

Made from high-purity alumina raw materials, its chemical composition is stable and it does not react with MIM stainless steel parts at high temperatures. This effectively avoids the carburization, decarburization, and dechromiuming problems commonly encountered when using graphite or ordinary ceramic plates.

  1. Non-Adhesive, Easy Separation

At high temperatures, this material does not stick to or wet stainless steel. After the parts are heated, they can be easily removed without hammering or scraping, saving time and increasing efficiency.

  1. Excellent thermal shock resistance and long service life

It can withstand the rapid temperature cycling during MIM sintering, maintaining good strength at high temperatures, resisting deformation, and ensuring flatness over long-term use.

  1. Reduced sintering defects and improved yield

It provides a flat support surface and good thermal uniformity, which helps parts shrink evenly during sintering, reducing internal stress and minimizing sintering defects such as cracking and warping.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. What is the difference between this product and ordinary alumina plates?

This product has a porous structure (apparent porosity ≥26%), providing excellent adhesive removal and permeability, low heat storage, and rapid heating and cooling. It also boasts higher material purity and stronger chemical inertness, effectively preventing reactions with MIM stainless steel parts.

  1. Will the product stick to stainless steel parts at high temperatures?

No. The material does not wet or stick to stainless steel at high temperatures, and the parts can be easily separated from the backing plate after sintering.

  1. What is the product’s service life?

The product has excellent thermal shock resistance, good high-temperature strength, and is not easily deformed, resulting in a long service life under normal use conditions. The specific service life depends on the operating conditions; please contact a sales engineer for details.

  1. Which stainless steel grades are suitable for MIM sintering?

Suitable for sintering processes of common MIM stainless steel grades such as 304L, 316L, and 17-4PH.

  1. Do you support custom sizes?

Yes. We can customize firing plates of different lengths, widths, and thicknesses according to the customer’s furnace size and part specifications.
