41 Zirconium-Corundum Brick

41# Zirconium Corundum Brick (AZS-41) is a first-grade product with the highest zirconium oxide content and best overall performance in the fused cast zirconium-alumina refractory material series. This product is made from high-purity alumina and selected zircon as raw materials, through high-temperature melting in an electric arc furnace, casting using a specific process, and annealing and cooling. Its main mineral phase composition is corundum (α-Al₂O₃) and zircon (ZrO₂).

The product possesses excellent properties such as dense structure, extremely low porosity, excellent resistance to glass melt erosion, and high glass phase exudation temperature, making it the preferred refractory material for key components of glass melting furnaces. The product is classified into four types according to casting method: ordinary casting (PT), inclined casting (QX), quasi-shrinkage-free casting (ZWS), and shrinkage-free casting (WS), to meet the needs of different glass melting processes.

Product Features

  1. Highest Zirconia Content, Excellent Erosion Resistance

With a zirconium oxide content of 40-44%, it forms a denser zirconium-enriched layer at high temperatures, and its resistance to glass melt erosion rate is ≤1.30mm/24h (1500℃×36h, ordinary soda-lime glass), which is significantly better than materials 33# and 36#.

  1. Dense Structure, Extremely Low Porosity

The porosity is no more than 1.0%, the bulk density is above 3.95, the structure is very dense, the molten glass cannot penetrate it, and there are few bubbles.

  1. High Initial Glass Phase Estrus Temperature, Safe to Use

With an initial glass phase temperature ≥1400℃, SiO₂ ≤13.0%, and Na₂O ≤1.30%, the low glass phase content ensures structural stability at high temperatures, resulting in superior creep resistance, impermeability resistance, and exudation resistance.

  1. Lowest Bubble Emission Rate, Ensuring Glass Quality

The bubble emission rate at 1300℃ for 10 hours is ≤1.0%, effectively reducing bubble defects in glass products, making it particularly suitable for the production of high-quality glass.

  1. Low Impurity Content, High Purity

The total Fe₂O₃ + TiO₂ content is ≤0.30%. Utilizing an oxidation melting process, there is virtually no carbon pollution, resulting in minimal contamination of the molten glass.

  1. Multiple Casting Methods Available

Four casting methods are available: PT, QX, ZWS, and WS, meeting the diverse requirements for shrinkage rate and density in different parts of the glass melting furnace.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. What is the core difference between 41# zirconium corundum bricks and 33# and 36# bricks?

The core difference lies in the ZrO₂ content and the resulting performance differences. 41# has the highest ZrO₂ content (40~44%), therefore its erosion resistance and anti-bubble properties are the best, but its cost is also the highest. 33# offers high cost-effectiveness and is suitable for general applications; 36# has moderate performance; 41# is specifically designed for the most demanding core and critical applications.

  1. How to choose the appropriate casting method based on the application?

The key is to consider the requirements for erosion resistance and density. Pool wall bricks can be cast using QX or ZWS casting; while for the most critical areas such as flow channels and kiln sills, the highest density WS (non-shrinkage-cavity) casting products must be used to ensure long-term stable operation.

  1. What precautions should be taken when using 41# bricks?

It should be noted that ZrO₂ undergoes a phase transformation and volume change around 1000℃, therefore strict thermal regimes must be followed during construction and furnace drying. Additionally, during installation, ensure that the direction of shrinkage cavities in the casting is perpendicular to the erosion surface of the molten glass to extend service life.

  1. Does the product support customization?

Yes. Zirconium corundum bricks of different shapes and sizes can be customized according to customer drawings. Please contact our sales engineer for details.
